farewell letter in camp

 Dear Mother and Father

Hello, this is Steve writing from the GLPS camp. Already it's been 4 weeks and there are only 4 days left in camp.In this camp, I had a chance to use english in normal days again. Also, I was able to learn some new things in math, writing, and mostly in debate.

In history, I learned how to make a history presentation properly. The reason for me not knowing how to make a proper history presentation is because it is far from the presentations I normally make. In debate, I learned an another form ofdebate from what I learned to do in Hong Kong. In math, I solved some interesting questions. overall, this camp was a valuable learning time.

I made new friends as well. It was really interesting to make these new friends because they were from all around Korea. They used different accents from me or they had other ways of living. Before, I think I was only international with friends outside of Korea but now, I feel connected to toher people within Korea.

I still kept missing home, but because I stayed here for a pretty long time, it was less then being away for a few days! I'm already forgetting how my room looks like. Surprisingly, I'm already adapted to this life.

I hope I can spend the rest of the time here well.

The Son of Neptune

Reviewed by Steve Park

Genre: Fiction/fantasy
By: Rick Riordan

What's the basic storyline?
-As the Greek demigod percy Jackson arrives at the Roman camp "Camp Jupiter", he makes new friends called Hazel Lavesque and Frank Zhang. On a mission to free Thanatos, the death god, Percy finds clues to his old lost memories, and finds out about an army of Giants trying to attack the camp.Percy and his friends go through dangerous monsters, and finally arrives at Alasca, where a Giant , the nemesis of Hades was waiting for them. Finally, Percy and hazel defeats the Giant, frees Thanatos, and comes back to camp to meet a warfeld in front of their eyes. The whole camp participates and destroys the army completely, and the
book ends as the Greek camp and the Roman one meets after centuries of silent war.

 Are the characters believable?
-Normally, if this book was written by someone else than Rick Riordan, the characters would have been unrealistic. But because Rick Riordan can make a character's speciality, thought, and characteristic so well described, most of the charaters striked me asreal. The only exception were the Giants that didn't really have many chances to be described. Also, because the places and the story was really well chosen and scripted, this gives a big impact on the realness of the characters.

On a scale of 1 to 10(10 being best), how would you rate this book?
- I would give it a big, fat score 9 out  of 10. This is mainly because of the author's best description, srong storyline, and the believable characters. Also, if you are a ig fan of the old Percy Jacson and the Olympians series, you would be excited to read about your favorite demigod back in action!

The Ghostly Graveyard

Warning: this writing is based on a fact and a true experience.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Most of you won't even think about believing in ghosts. I don't believe in ghosts, but it was still creepy to see something that even resembled it.
It was mid winter in Austrailia. I was in a Taekwondo camp with the intension of training our minds. We went to a graveyardin the middle of the night. Before then, I was quite excited about it. It was a very chilly night, so I naturally wore many layers of clothes. I was even excited as I went through the mightily high gates that warned: "do not look back".
my task was to remember 3 names on the gravestone. I began to feel the fear gathering as the gates creaked shut behind me. Unlike Korean graves which are hardend lumps of dirt, statues of angels and people greeted me. Under my thick layer of cloths, goosebumps began to come up on my body. I did have other kids to keep me company, but that barely stoppedthe feeling of lonliness and fear.
We were almost halfway across the grave when a friend of mine couldn't hold the antcipation and looked back. After the scream came, all of us looked back at once. A blurred figure, that didn't have legs as gliding towards us. At once we ran screaming our lungs out. We crashed through the gates, pulled the stunned looking teacher into the driver's seat and he drove away as fast as possible. My heat only stopped pounding like ad hen we were back inside the teacher's home.
Now when I think of it, it might have been a guard wearing black trousers. But from then on, I learned a lesson to never overlook a warning or a rule.

An ode to Internet

You give us entertainment in our life,
But you're also a double bladed knife.
You show us funny books,
But you also give us sneaky looks.

You heal our hard feelings,
But you also hurt our feelings.
You give us good resources,
But you take our important sources.

I gues it all depends on who uses you
But we must beware, where we go
Inside the wide world of
The World Wide Web.

The start of my Hong Kong life

Have you ever lived in an another country? I had a chance to live in Hong Kong along with my family. I took the chance and lived there for 3 and a half years until just a few months ago. But when I first got there, my twisted image of Hong Kong made me nervous and excited at the same time.

It felt unreal until I arrived there. Cleaning up the house and getting out of school all felt like a dream. Even getting on the plane felt just like a family vacation. The only time I woke up from this unreality was when the Cantonese plane instructions came out. Since all the things I brought was Korean, I couldn't believe I was heading to a foreign country to Live. Then, the plane taxied, and there we were, in Hong Kong.

As I headed through the gate, I was expecting weird and dirty things all around. But I got something I never expected. An English sign! I finally got relaxed and started to get excited by this situation. Next day, I went outside of my apartment building in Taikooshing to see a park, a mall nearby, and some diners. Just what I needed. I went inside KIS, my new school, made friends, and figured out there were a lot of Korean guys around the area.I also tried Cinese food which I expected to be greasy were but were delicious. I settled in well, and had good days.

The next few years went smoothly except for the occasional typhoons. my Hong Kong life was a new and fun experience, probably because I had a good start. If anyone gets a chance to live out of the country, I would advise them to give it a shot.
